Michael Miller: First African American Register of Deeds in Charleston County

Michael Miller has become the first African American Register of Deeds in Charleston County, an office that has existed for over 200 years. The Oath of Office and Swearing-In ceremony for the new Democratic Register of Deeds will take place Friday January 4th at 12 p. m. on the steps Customs House on East Bay Street.

The Register of Deeds office officially records and indexes all legal documents affecting real estate and property in Charleston County.
